Are drafty windows making it cold in your home this season? You don’t have to go through the entire winter living like this! There are a few easy fixes for window drafts that can keep your home warm and comfortable all winter long. Check them out below!
Apply shrink film to your windows.
This is one of the first steps you should take when trying to control window drafts. Insulating window shrink film can be easily applied with a hair dryer to block drafts around window frames. It’s also easy to remove once the weather warms up and you’re ready to open your windows again.
Add weather stripping.
Weather stripping is ideal for drafts that originate from gaps in the sides of your window frames. Adding weather stripping to your windows can seal these gaps without preventing you from opening the windows if you need to.
Install draft stoppers.
If cold air is coming through the bottom of your windows, a draft stopper is an effective tool for sealing it shut. You can buy a draft stopper kit made of foam and fabric and then cut it to fit your specific windows. When you close the window down on it, it will stop air from getting into your home through the bottom of the frame.
Upgrade your old window glass.
For a better long-term solution to the problem, you should consider replacing the glass in your windows with a more modern option. Newer insulated windows will do a much better job of preventing drafts and keeping your home warm in the winter.
